Back Counselling Psychologist

Isaac C. Y. YU

Mr Yu is an associate fellow and registered counselling psychologist of the Hong Kong Psychological Society. He is also the president, registered clinical supervisor and counsellor of Asian Professional Counselling and Psychology Association. He has been awarded Master of Social Sciences in Counselling Psychology with distinction by Hong Kong Shue Yan University, and has studied Family Therapy at HKU Family Institute. Upon his graduation, he has taught classes of personal growth, group counselling, abnormal psychology, social psychology, personality and individual differences, autism spectrum disorders. Mr Yu also works on research supervision and clinical supervision for local bachelor and master students.

 

Mr. Yu specializes in analysing and solving personal, career and life issues people encounter in different life stages, and to provide comprehensive and preventive psychotherapy and counselling services with the help of psychological assessments to analyse one's talents and strengths. He has the experience of providing individual and group counselling, psychological assessments, career and life planinng counselling in mainstream schools, schools specializing in autism spectrum disorders, organization of special learning disabilities, and different NGOs and private organization.

 

Mr. Yu is committed to reseaching and facilitation positive parenting, strength-based and localised counselling approaches. He has expertise in helping parents find out their children's strengths, or helping one exploring his or her own strengths. He has been interviewed by newspapers and radio repeatedly, and he is always invited to NGOs and professional education organizations to provide training for front-line counselling and education workers in recent years.

Professional Experience

  • Current Counselling Psychologist at CRC and provided counselling services such as personal growth, emotional, family, social relationship and career counselling to children, teenagers, university students and people with chronic illness; offered trainings, seminars and workshops to schools, private and social welfare organizations.
  • Current Counselling Psychologist in the joint project "Supporting Service to Children with Special Education Needs (樂善童心) with Kowloon Lok Sin Tong
  • Providing psychological assessment, individual / group counselling services to SEN students, teenagers and parents in Hong Kong Association for Specific Learning Disabilities.
  • Researcher of the project "READ & WRITE: A Jockey Club Learning Support Network" at University of Hong Kong.
